Public and private defender
If you are suspected of a crime, you may have the right to a public defender in certain cases. You can suggest a specific lawyer to represent you. As your defender, we assist you during the preliminary investigation (police investigation) and in any potential court proceedings. The cost of a public defender is primarily covered by the state.
In some cases, such as if you are suspected of a crime that may result in a fine, you rarely have the right to a public defender. In these situations, you can hire a private defense attorney to represent you. You usually bear the cost of the private defense attorney yourself. If you are acquitted, the state may cover the reasonable costs you have incurred for your defense attorney.
Counsel for an injured party
If you are a crime victim (plaintiff), you may be entitled to a legal counsel. You can request a specific person to represent you. We support you before and during police interviews and represent you in any potential court proceedings. If you are entitled to damages, we also assist you in this claim. The cost for a legal counsel is covered by the state.
Special representative for children
When there is reason to believe that a child has been subjected to a crime by a guardian or relative, the court can appoint a special representative for the child. As a special representative, we safeguard the child’s rights during the legal process. The cost of a special representative is covered by the state.
